How do you take the inner tire rod off on a 2001 ford taurus?

This requires a special tool. Jack it up safely, take the wheel off, loosen the nut on the inner tie rod end that secures it to the outter, take the nut off the outter that attaches to the knuckle, beat the knuckle with a sledge hammer beside the outter tierod end to loosen it from the knuckle, pull the outter out of the knuckle and turn it off the inner while counting the number of turns, now turn the nut off the inner, take the inner tierod boot off after taking the clamps off….may have to cut the bigger clamp off with a pair of side cutters which can be replaced with a zip tie, once the boot is slid off the inner tie rod, you can put the special tool in there and turn the inner tie rod out. Installation is in the reverse order except you may need to replace the big metal clamp on the boot with a hd zip tie and you need to turn the outter tie rod on the number of counts you turned it out….so remember that number. Also have the front end alligned when finished. Take your time.
