Many women take prenatal vitamins during pregnancy. Herbs provide vitamins and minerals in a form that is easy for the body to absorb. For optimum nutrition, midwives with herbal training often recommend that pregnant women take a short list of teas and tinctures that are rich in vitamins, calcium, iron and other minerals. Make an herbal infusion by filling a jar one-third of the way with one of the following herbs: nettle, red clover, oatstraw, or raspberry leaf. Fill the jar to the top with boiling water, cap, and allow to steep for at least four hours. Strain out and drink one to two cups of tea, and store what’s left in the refrigerator.
