Taking care of flowers is a simple procedure but it involves more than you may think. Lilies are among the many flowers commonly found in the home. You have to be extremely careful when handling lilies, but only a few daily steps are required to keep your lilies healthy, fresh and vibrant. Cut each stem individually on an angle about one-quarter inch from the bottom. Cutting on an angle allows the water and nutrients to flow into the flower much more easily when it takes its daily “drink.” Trimming the stems slightly on a daily or every-other-day basis will help ensure freshness. Fill the vase about two-thirds of the way up with water that is already at room temperature.
