Blisters while hiking can be a source of some serious pain. If not properly cared for blisters can bring down the fun and excitement throughout your hike. But with some proper time taken and attention paid to them, you will hardly know that they exist. Be sure that you have proper fitting hiking shoes or hiking boots that you have broken in with hiking socks or anti blister socks, to wear and or thin layer cotton socks to put on first. It is best to start out with some medicated salve on any spots you are prone to getting blisters or have had blisters before. Moleskin is another good item to use to protect your known hot spots with and will absorb some excess friction like pre-applying the salve will. If a blister occurs, put a bandage or gauze pad (depending on the size it is)on it after you apply medicated salve to it.
