The white nun orchid, Phaius tankervilleae var. albus, is a tropical ground-growing orchid with large pleated leaves and showy light green and white flowers that resemble the flaring, white habit (head covering) of certain Catholic nun orders. Providing an evenly moist, humus-rich soil, bright indirect light and comfortable temperatures in the range of 60 to 80 degrees F make the foundation for successful growing and enjoyment.
