Dry thoroughly with paper towels because if there is any water left behind, it might spatter the oil. Coat the bottom of the grill pan with a thin layer of oil. Apply it with a paper towel to get an even coat between all the grill ridges. Place the pan on low heat. Gradually increase the heat until you get the desired temperature. Place the food you are cooking on the hot grill ridges. Deglaze the pan by boiling water, if necessary, to loosen any stuck-on food. Scrape between the ridges with a silicone or wood ut
