The Xbox 360 Elite game console is a sleeker version of the original 360. There are minor differences and upgrades on this console, such as an HD connector port and a much larger hard drive. But just like any other electronic device, it is prone to the usual wear and tear over time. If you need to open up your 360 Elite in order to diagnose a problem, and don’t have the money to have a technician do it for you, you can take apart the Elite yourself. Turn off your Xbox 360 and unplug it from the power source. Remove the rectangular hard drive (labeled “HDD”) from the side of the unit by pressing the circular hard drive release button down while simultaneously sliding it off the unit. Pry the front plastic frame from the unit with your fingers by gripping it at the seam on the side of the Xbox and gently pulling it off.
