It’s more than just ripping apart the exterior and rummaging around inside. A laptop houses some extremely sensitive components that can be damaged by anything from a stray slip of the screwdriver to the littlest static electric charge. However, if you’re careful, the process is actually very simple and straightforward. Put on your anti-static wristband to discharge any static electricity that poses a threat to your computer. Lay the laptop upside-down on a clean, dry, well lit work surface and unscrew all visible screws. Remove the cover from the underside of the computer. Unscrew the motherboard mooring screws and remove them. Your motherboard can now be removed, exposing the disk drive, hard drive and the underside of the keyboard. Flip the computer
