Ensure the weapon is unloaded. Remove the magazine clip with the gun safety engaged and the gun pointed in a safe direction. Pull the slide back and ensure an empty chamber and receiver. Locate the retainer on the back of the slide. It will be a small round button in a hole. Gently push in the spring-loaded retainer with the eraser of a pencil about 1/4 inch until it disengages. Be careful with the retainer because it is spring-loaded and can launch itself as the slide is removed. Also be aware that the retainer is a known weak point with this gun and care should be taken to not deform or break it. Remove the slide by lifting
