You’ve seen them in movies, a lightweight boat with a huge fan at the back. It zips around shallow lakes and swampy areas. If you want to ride in an airboat, here’s how to do it. Locate an airboat company near you. To find one near you, search the internet using the keywords “airboat” + name of your town or region. If there aren’t any near you, plan a trip to Florida or Louisiana where airboats are quite popular. Call to find the price, make reservations and get directions. We tried the Boggy Creek Airboat Rides in Orlando which has two locations. What you see is different at each site, so ask about what you want to see. If it’s alligators, they recommended the night ride. For birds and scenery, the daytime was better. Take a jacket just in case. At high speeds, it’s quite windy and could be chilly.
