If you’re staying in one of the resorts or hotels on the Riviera Maya in Mexico, you may have a tour operator try to sell you an excursion to the Tulum ruins, but you don’t have to take a tour to see these amazing ruins. It’s fairly simple and very affordable to take public transit. Ask at your hotel about the current colectivo rates. At last check they were fixed at 30 pesos (2.30 USD) from south of Playa Del Carmen to the Tulum Ruins. Don’t ask at the desk with tour information. Get to the main highway.
