How Do You Tailor Childrens Size Jeans?
Tailoring children’s size jeans is simple, even for people with very little sewing skill. All you need is a sewing machine, some thread, and a few pins. Have your child try on the jeans inside out. Pinch off an equal amount of excess fabric on each hip and pin it. Next, have your child take off the jeans, and take them to your sewing machine. Set the machine to a nice, wide zigzag stitch where the stitches are very close together. Remove the pins on one side of the jeans, but hold it so that you don’t lose where you need to sew. Sew a couple stitches where the pins used to be, then reverse and sew over those stitches to “lock” the stitches so they won’t unravel. Finish sewing a line where the pins were. Once again, reverse to lock the stitches at the end. Snip off the extra fabric and do Steps 4 and 5 to the other side.
