How Do You Sweat Solder Copper Pipe?

0

To solder copper pipes and fittings is easier then you would think. Invest in a good torch and some flux and you can do it. Purchase flux, solder, and pipe cleaner or steel wool. Use plumb safe solder if it is in a drinking water line. Clean all pipe ends and fittings with a pipe cleaner or steel wool. Clean until copper is nice and bright. Apply flux to pipe and fitting liberally. Use an ample amount it will save you time from redoing things. Heat fitting with torch. Make sure fitting is hot enough to draw solder in to it. Touch solder on pipe at the edge of the fitting. If it draws into fitting remove heat. Run solder around pipe next to fitting. When it is full it will ball up or drip. Move to next joint and repeat process. If you are soldering valves remove packing or insert before heating.
