This fun, intense, group exercise class is the perfect way to keep step aerobic junkies challenged once they’ve got the “V” step down pat. The first day of advanced step can throw even seasoned steppers for a loop, however. Here’s how to survive an advanced step aerobics class. Arrive early enough to introduce yourself to the instructor and let her know this is your first advanced step class. You can tell her the other classes you’ve taken so she knows you’re not a total novice–but this way she’ll know if she needs to explain any usual or advanced moves. Set up your bench in the front row, as close to the instructor as possible. You might be embarrassed if you make a mistake and worry that you’re “stealing” the spots of the advanced step regulars.
