How Do You Surf In Loire Atlantique, France?
Loire Atlantique is a region on France’s western coast, in the lower part of Brittany. Though the surf spots of Loire Atlantique aren’t as big as other parts of the French coast, the surrounding areas are just as beautiful. The cold water does little to take away from the stark cliffs and green fields that undulate from the shores. Be sure to explore the surrounding areas in between sessions. Start at La Govelle. The wind can blow out these waves at times, but generally the righthanded wave is better situated that the lefts. Holding their form with more height, the rights tend to draw a crowd from the nearby town of La Baule. Just to the south of La Govelle is Valentin, another break that works under the same conditions. Watch for sharp rocks and an occasionally strong riptide. Head to La Courance next. It might be small, but La Courance is a very consistent wave. The shorebreak attracts a number of bodyboarders, but the rapport between surfers and bodyboarders is usually pretty good.
