0

Many students have what could be called “math phobia,” and rightly so. Math is a very challenging subject. I tell that to all my students because it is the honest truth. With that said, these are some steps that will hopefully help you to be better prepared for your next math test. Make up your own test! That sounds strange, but this is what I mean. Let’s say your test is going to be on solving two-step algebraic equations. Try to figure out what problems your teacher is going to give you, and write them down. Then solve them. Go out of your way to trick yourself. Assume the worst, so you will be prepared for it. Try to think in terms of, “What if the teacher makes that number negative … will I know what to do? What if the teacher uses decimals or fractions … will I get confused?” If you are prepared for your “worst case scenario” version of the test, then the actual test will seem easy by comparison. Try to teach the material to someone else. If you have a friend or family member
