How Do You Strip & Wax Terrazzo Floors?
Although terrazzo floors can be polished to a high shine, it is easier to apply a coat of floor finish or wax. However, over time, these waxed floors can yellow or become impossible to clean because of embedded dirt. To restore a brilliant shine to a terrazzo floor, either by polishing or applying new coats of floor finish, the old wax must be stripped off and a new coat of wax applied. Remove chairs, desks and any movable furnishings from the space to be stripped. Sweep the floor to remove loose dirt and debris. Set up the buffing machine with a stripping pad attached at the furthest end of the room, so you can work your way to the exit without having to step on the clean floor. Similarly, set up the wet vacuum with a hard-floor squeegee head. Mix the stripping concentrate in a wringer pail according to the manufacturer’s directions.
