How Do You Store Left Over Latex Paint?
How many times have you painted a room or wall and have had left over paint? The paint can says to store the paint in the original container but we all know that is not the best place to store it. The rim gets crusty and there is always a film on top the next time you go to use it five years from now. My method of storing paint has allowed me to store paint for over 10 years with no adverse affects to the paint. I recently painted my entire living room wall with paint that was 13 years old and stored in an old Gatorade container! Before you start painting, estimate the amount of paint you will have left over. Then go to your recycling bin and pull out a plastic container with a small opening that will hold the estimated amount of left over paint. In this case I used a 64 Ounce Log Cabin container because I figured there would be about a half gallon of paint left over. Make sure the container is clean both inside and out.
