Store your coins in Ziploc bags, whether they are collectables or for spending. Placing collector coins in a bag provides cheap storage. Gather coins for spending inside the bags for better organization. This system also works well if you are running some type of stand and need to keep the change in something. Ziploc bags come in a variety of sizes. Don’t fill the bag more than halfway full. This prevents the bag from ripping from too much weight. Fill a shallow bowl halfway with vinegar. Place the coins inside of the vinegar for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove the coins. Scrub the coins with the toothbrush. Dunk the coins back into the vinegar for 10 seconds. Remove and rinse with water. Lay a towel on a flat surface. Place the wet coins on the towel to dry. Write down the type or amount of coins on the front of the bag. Place the coins in the bag. Close.
