• Use a night light or leave a light on a low setting outside the child’s door. Or, leave a lamp on a low setting while he or she falls asleep. You can turn it off when the child is asleep. • Come in when the room is dark and ask where the monsters are. Turn on the lights to show that anything they are seeing is simply a shadow of it. • Make monster ‘spray’. Take an empty spray bottle and fill it with water. Label it with a marking pen or tape. Let your child spray (lightly) any areas where the monsters are hiding, and assure the child that the monsters are gone now. • Eliminate places for monsters to hide.
