To stop a leg cramp, immediately straighten your leg so that the knee is not bent at all. Bend forward at the waist or pull your whole leg straight up. You can also stand and place the leg with the cramp on a bedside or chair and then bend forward at the waist. Bend your foot as far back as possible. Bring your foot toward your leg. Now, if your leg is straight, you are bending forward as much as possible, and your foot is bent up toward your leg, (you should find that your face is fairly close to your toes), then you will have the muscle pulled tight.
