How Do You Stop A Bathtub Faucet From Leaking?
Most bathtub leaks can be fixed easily by the homeowner in a couple of hours and for less than $100 in tools and materials. The most common causes of bathtub leaks are faulty or worn-out washers, spouts, or the faucets themselves. Spouts come in two types: screw-on or slip-on. Slip-on spouts have screws. More difficult repairs may be needed if the problem is caused by corrosion or cracks between the faucet spot and water pipes between the walls. Faucets are used to control the flow of water; faucets either open for water to flow, or they close to stop the flow of water. Leaks occur when the parts of the faucet that are supposed to stop the flow of water wear out or are damaged. There are two types of faucets: those with washers, which when tightened, squeeze against the back of the faucet to stop the water flow; and “washerless” faucets which use a cartridge. When a leak occurs with “washerless” faucets, the entire cartridge needs to be replaced. Turn off the hot and cold water sources
