How Do You Stay Safe When Working With A Commercial Range?
If you are in the foodservice industry, chances are you will be around a commercial range. It is important to maintain certain precautions in order to prevent harm to yourself, others, or the restaurant itself. Cleanliness is key! Leaving crumbs, spots of grease, and other various food items on the range may not seem like too big of a deal, but they are all highly flammable. Keep your eyes open and be sure to always have someone nearby so they can be in control of the heat. These things are hot, so pay attention. Don’t mistake your range for a good place to rest your hand, your apron, or those seemingly innocent (but very flammable) cleaning supplies. Having potholders and oven-mitts near the range can be quite useful as well. Remember the nearby floors. Keep the worst case situation in mind: if there is grease or water on the floor next to the range, someone will probably slip on it, instinctively reach out for support, and grab the scorching range.
