Ultrarunning is an exciting sport. It’s less competitive than running shorter distances. Most ultrarunning is done outside where an ultrarunner can become hooked on the natural high of running in the elements of Mother Nature. Whether you are already running short distances or just starting to take up running, here are some tips to start ultrarunning. Start ultrarunning slowly. If you have already been running a few miles at a time, start increasing the time and length of your runs. Since each person’s body is different, you will have to be the best judge of how much you can realistically increase your running. Typically it’s best to increase running about five to ten percent a week. If you have just started running, take it slowly. Walk and run during a workout until you have worked your way up to running comfortably. Then set a goal to run 5k and 10k events. Find a place where you like to run.
