How do you start and finish a gymnastic sequence?

Well, each sequence is different (and should be). It could be a back tumbling sequence for example. Let’s say the gymnast just finished her dance sequence in her beam routine. In a beam routine each sequence usually travels the full length of the beam (unless it is a stationary sequence such as a jump sequence). Now the gymnast will stand tall, take a deep breath and raise her arms tall to gain good center-balance then do a back-hand spring, back hand spring, back layout (that should take up the entire length of the beam) and place her arms in a “finish” position signifying she has completed that sequence.
