How Do You Start An Avocado Tree From Seed?
Starting and growing your own avocado plant can be an interesting project for home gardeners. There are two ways to start an avocado plant; one way is the water method, and the other it the moist soil method. The water method seems to be the most popular one. No matter which way you choose to start your avocado seed, the resulting plant makes a beautiful house plant. You need to take the fruit off of the avocado seed, and clean the seed somewhat. You will notice that there is a pointy end and a flat end to the seed. You will want to place the flat end down into the water (or soil, in the soil method) to start your avocado plant. Push 3 or 4 toothpicks partially into the sides of the avocado pit. This is done to hold it level on the top of a jar. You can poke the toothpicks anywhere from 1 /2 to 1/3 of the way down the sides of the seed. It doesn’t need to be exact. Place the flatter end down into a jar filled with water.
