How Do You Start A Starting Point Of A Debate Speech?
Starting a debate speech is like starting an essay. It would help if I knew the topic but I’ll give you some basic tips. When you start the speech, you have your introduction and then you have your resolution which is the topic your are given (You can either say “I affirm the resolution” or “I negate the resolution” and then say the topic.). For your introduction, you want your opening line to be somewhat related to your topic but it should not give it completely away. Let’s say the resolution(topic) is “Fast food should not be sold”. Let’s say you affirm(support) the topic. You could start out by saying, “Fast food has become a staple in America. People eat it all the time and you can’t drive down a street without seeing a fast food restaurant. But what has it made us? America is a country loaded with fast food.
