How Do You Start A Nitro RC Car With An Electric Starter?
Most RC nitro cars are equipped with a pull starting mechanism similar to some lawn equipment. Racers in the RC nitro car field prefer to use an electric starting box to start a nitro engine quickly by rotating the engine’s spur gear that protrudes from the vehicle’s chassis. Other RC car owners will replace the pull start mechanism with a special gearbox designed to use a starter shaft and an external electric starter motor. Take off the body of the RC car and remove any components necessary to gain a clear view of the engine’s flywheel, clutch housing and clutch nut or bolt. Use a permanent marker to draw a small straight line on the chassis to indicate the exact flywheel location in relation to the flywheel opening used for the starter box’s wheel. Mark another straight line on the chassis that lines up directly with engine’s pilot shaft position.
