In early spring or summer you can start a new butterfly bush that will be ready to put in the ground and bloom for the next year. Snip off a healthy branch of your existing butterfly bush. Preferably a branch of new growth, this start should be about 6 inches long. Strip off the leaves except for the top few. Fill a water bottle with willow root booster solution or plain water. You can find an easy recipe for making this root booster solution by following the link below. Insert the cut end of the butterfly bush branch into the water bottle. Set the bottle in a window and make sure to keep it filled over the next few weeks.
