How Do You Start A Motorboat Outboard Motor?
They’re often quirky, but with proper preparation, the outboard will be your friend. Sit facing the motor. Tilt the motor back if it has been locked in the “up” position. Open the tank vent. Move the gearshift lever to neutral. Set the choke between half and full. Adjust the throttle to the “start” position. Prime the fuel system by squeezing the gas-line bulb until it feels firm. Pull the manual starter chord, or press the starter button on motors with electric starters. Reduce the choke and throttle after the motor starts. Adjust the choke if your motor doesn’t start after three or four tries.
