Lowbrow Art is a movement that began in the nineties, inspired by former sixties underground comic artist Robert Williams and his magazine “Juxtapoz”. Other influences on this style include Sixties underground artists like Robert Crumb, Kim Deitch and S. Clay Wilson, along with Fifties California car culture artists like Ed “Big Daddy” Roth and Von Dutch. While the art establishment may not “get” this art style yet, don’t let that discourage you from becoming a collector. The art establishment has been slow to accept other movements in the past, such as Dada, Surrealism and Pop Art.
