How Do You Start A Flooded Mazda RX8?
The rotary engine of a Mazda RX8 tends to saturate easily if the car turns off before the engine warms. Flooding the cylinders by injecting excessive fuel into the combustion chamber causes the fuel/air ratio to become disproportionate. When this happens, ignition cannot occur, and the engine cannot start. Dealing with this quirky problem in your Mazda RX8 can be frustrating; often steps taken to try to start a flooded car will only aggravate the issue. Step 1 Depress and hold the accelerator pedal and crank the engine for eight seconds. This will clear out any fuel that has flooded the combustion chamber. Step 2 Release the accelerator pedal and start the engine. It is not necessary to press the pedal again. The engine should start without adding more fuel. Step 3 Let the car sit and run for several seconds. There maybe some smoke; allow it to clear. Do not press on the accelerator pedal again until you are ready to take off.
