How Do You Stain & Paint Cement?
Most people agree that drab gray cement can be uninspiring and unattractive. Luckily, a coat of paint or stain can often transform ordinary concrete into a thing of beauty. However, there are a few things you need to know before you even think about attempting such a project yourself. If you are planning to stain or paint cement, the following steps will help guide you through the process. Use a metal putty knife to scrape away any dirt, mud or crumbling loose cement. Apply the chemical degreaser to any oily or greasy areas on the cement. Scrub the area with a coarse brush. Use the pressure washer to thoroughly clean the cement. Allow the cement to dry completely before proceeding. Use water to dilute the muriatic acid as instructed by the labeling on the product. Apply the solution with the spray nozzle that should have been included with the kit you purchased. Allow the acid to sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse the solution thoroughly with a water hose.
