You needed and purchased a new bookcase, brought it home , put it together and found out that it stands out in every room that its placed. You can repaint it. Remove every screw, washer and nut from the bookcase with a screwdriver or drill. Remove the shelves and disassemble the remaining parts and place them together in a certain part of the room to keep it in order. Make a mixture of warm water and dish detergent and clean each section of the bookcase with a cloth or sponge. Scour each piece of bookcase with the 120-grit sandpaper. This will eliminate the wax or finish from the pieces and give a rough surface for the paint to bond to. Use the tack cloth to wipe away sandpaper dust once the sanding is finished.
