If you are handicapping horse races for profit, you probably have a list of jockeys and what they excel at, but if you don’t have an actual list, you probably have some information stored in your brain. If you don’t have some opinions about some jockeys, then you probably aren’t making a profit with your handicapping. Obviously, evaluating the horses is the first place to start when handicapping horse races, but after you’ve read their lines and made some decisions, looking at the trainer and the jockey are the next logical steps. I have a few jockeys that will keep me from betting on a horse, no matter how good the horse looks on paper.
