Rainy days are often a parent’s worst nightmare, however new craft ideas, like sponge painting, can turn a never-ending day into a day full of memories. Children love to create and learn new things, and sponge painting offers many ways to engage your children and allow them to use their imaginations. Give your children sponges, paint and some direction and let them take the reigns to show you what they can create. Cut squares, triangles, rectangles and circles out of household sponges. After your child has had the fun of making a sponge painting, allow them to trace the outline of the shapes with markers or crayons to help them learn how to draw basic shapes. Buy or cut sponges into specific shapes like stars, moons, hearts or circles and ask your child to make a picture using these shapes.
