Place the 4 gallons onto the scales to defuse the bomb. • Fill up the 3 gallon jug, and dump it into the 5 gallon jug. • Fill up the 3 gallon jug again, and us it to fill the 5 gallon jug the rest of the way up, taking two gallons from your 3 gallon jug, leaving 1 gallon. • Dump the 5 gallon jug out, and put the 1 gallon that is left over in the 3 gallon jug into the 5 gallon jug. • Fill the 3 gallon jug. Add that 3 gallons to the 1 gallon in the 5 gallon jug to get 4 gallons.
