How Do You Solve Indirect Proportion Math Problems?
There are some math problems that are downright tricky, and indirect proportions could be considered one of them! Fortunately, though, solving indirect proportion math problems is not hard and there is an easy way to set them up in order to solve them. Here are the steps one should take in order to solve indirect proportions. First, identify the two proportions in the word or indirect proportion math problem you are working on. Example: the two proportions would be $21/$0.26 (21 dollars over 26 cents) and $18/x (18 dollars over x) in the word problem that asks what the unit cost is for a box containing 80 diapers for $18 if a $21 box of diapers has the unit cost of $0.26 for each of its 80 diapers. Once you have identified the two proportions, you can now set the problem up the way that indirect proportions should be solved (i.e. indirect proportions need to be set up so that each side of the proportion has the same values). Example: the problem above would be set up by using the equat
