How Do You Skate Backwards Using Hockey Skates?

0

When playing hockey a player needs to be able to skate backwards. It is a process that is very easy to master and in no time it can be learned and soon one can become a professional at it. Get on the ice with your feet a comfortable distance apart, typically about 1 ft space between skates. Push off with your toes to go backwards, as you start moving begin to turn your skates into a V shape. Once in the V position, rotate your heels out to make a triangle position (^). Repeat Step 2 and go back to the V position. As your skating backwards you should continue to change from the V to the ^ position, as you continue to skate it will look like you are drawing an hourglass with your skates. With some practice you will become more fluid and it will feel more smooth skating backwards.
