How Do You Shrink Clothes In A Washer?
Everyone has experienced that tragic moment when a favorite shirt or pair of pants, perhaps just purchased, was removed from the washer or dryer two sizes too small. The heart plummets, and the knees go weak, especially if you needed that item for an important meeting. Ironically, those moments can count for something. Sometimes the need arises to shrink a shirt, a uniform or a pair of stretched-out jeans, and you need to do it quickly. Place your clothes in the washer, and set the machine to hot water only. Soap isn’t necessary, but you can use it if your clothes are dirty. Run the clothes through the washer’s spin cycle twice. This will make certain that all the extra water has been removed. Put the clothes in the dryer. Tumble dry on the hottest setting your dryer has. If you don’t have a dryer, you will need to hang them to dry in the warmest place you can find. A really hot, sunny spot on a back deck will work, out of the wind.
