How Do You Shingle A Roof Using The Closed Valley Method?
You have two main techniques for laying shingles across a valley in your roof, the open and closed methods. The closed valley method provides greater protection against water. If you have experience laying shingles on a roof, then this method should not prove too difficult. Apply peel and stick underlay, such as Grace Ice & Water Shield, to the roof. The products are available at home improvement stores. Lay shingles through the valley. The National Roofing Contractors Association recommends that you begin laying your shingles on the edge of your lower roof face and work toward the valley. Use four 3/4-inch roofing nails on each shingle. Lay the shingles through the valley and at least 12 inches onto the other roof face.
