How Do You Sew Table Top Curtains?
Curtains for table tops are often used as skirts that attach to the edge of the table top to hide the legs. Table top curtains or table skirts dress up the table for occasions such as weddings, showers and other parties. They also hide the legs of people sitting at tables, such as those on a dais during public meetings. Measure the table edge all around the top with the tape measure–on only three sides if people will be sitting at the table, or on all four sides if the table will be used for another purpose. Take this measurement and buy a strip of adhesive-backed Velcro stripping. For the fabric, triple this measurement to allow for gathering the table skirt, and include two extra inches for the hems on each side. Measure the length from the tabletop to the floor. Add in allowances for a hem at the top and at bottom of the table skirt. These measurements will be the size of the fabric you must buy to make the curtain.
