Start with purchased curtains and add a coordinating ruffle to them as well as to the valance. Finish with a ruffled tieback for a clever accent. You can start in the afternoon and hang them before dinner. Decide if you want the ruffled material sewn to the front or the back of the curtain. No hem is necessary if you sew it to the back because the edge of the curtain will cover it. Seam a small hem on the raw edge before ruffling if you choose a front ruffle. Attach the ruffler foot to your sewing machine and run the lace fabric under the foot. It will gather evenly and produce several yards of ruffled lace.
