How Do You Sew Fabric Gift Bags?
Sew fabric gift bags from scraps for a recycle crafts project. Kids just love to have a bag to put their little items in–even boys like a fabric gift bag. Gift bags are so easy to make, you can make a dozen in an afternoon if you can sew just a little. You don’t need expert sewing skills for these. Design the bag. Find a fabric for the bag, and bias tape, lace scraps, fabric, decorator buttons or whatever you want to embellish the bag with. You will also need a safety pin and cording for the drawstring. Cut out the bag. Select the size bag you want to make and cut to size. An 8 x 10 inch square of fabric will make a bag about 4 x 8 inch size (less the seams). Choose the size you like, or that will fit your gifts, and double the width. A 10 x 10 inch bag will need to be about 20 inches by 10 inches to start. Sew around the fabric gift bag. Place the right sides together and stitch around the body of the gift bag, leaving the top open. Stitch the top seam with a fancy stitch or just a b
