An Ethernet Home Network, often referred to as a local area network (LAN), is a computer setup in which several computers are hardwired together using Ethernet cables. They can share information, and potentially, an Internet connection. Since many households today contain several computers, and one of the primary functions of computers is Internet access, home networking has become extremely common. Step 1 Shut down each computer that you wish to connect to your home network. Step 2 Place your Internet sharing device in a location so that each computer will be able to reach it using the cords that you have. Having long Ethernet cables can be helpful if your computers are far apart. If you are only sharing a connection between two computers, you can just connect them together directly though their Ethernet ports using a special “cross over” Ethernet cable.
