How Do You Setup A Trail Cam?
Trail or Game cameras are used for photographing wildlife in their natural settings—usually on the trail. It’s a good idea to try to identify a feeding location. You can even leave food for them as bait. When they feed, they’ll hang around longer and you could get some great shots. The quality of the pictures you get is going to be dependent on your site survey as much as the quality of the camera. Step 1 Perform a site survey. Identify a location for the camera. The camera should be mounted on a tree, but make sure the tree is pretty substantial because wind movement can cause false readings of game. Make sure the camera points up the trail rather than across the trail–you’ll have longer to get the shot. Don’t point the camera into the sun. It can cause false heat readings. Step 2 Remove the two thumb screws and slide the battery door open. Step 3 Insert 6 alkaline D batteries and close the battery door. Make sure you get the polarity right. Insert an SD card. Step 4 Secure the cam
