Winamp is one of the most resourceful media players on the market. Use it for podcasting, listening to music and reading RSS feeds. It can even be used to stream music over the Internet, which allows you to broadcast your own online radio station to anyone on the Internet. The process of setting up online radio and broadcasting isn’t for the novice, but it can be done with some care and time. Register with an online streaming host. You can find a list of different hosts at Radio Toolbox (see Resources). Each of the hosts on this list offers a special Shoutcast hosting program. Sign up for the Shoutcast hosting program and you will then be given your own “Output Configuration” settings. Record these settings for later use.
