How Do You Set Up & Maintain An Aquarium?
This is a tested & proven method for setting up & maintaining a fresh water fish tank. Find a good location for your tank. Once full, you will not be able to move it. Select a place that does not get a lot of sunlight. Direct sunlight will cause algae to take over your tank quickly. Add gravel, decorations & plants to your fish tank. Begin filling with water. Once your tank is almost full, add your water filter (I recommend Whisper power filters) & your water heater, if you are going to be using one. DO NOT PLUG THEM IN YET! The water heater needs at least 5-10 minutes to acclimate to your water temperature before plugging it in or it may shatter. Also make sure the heater thermostat is turned all the way down if your model is equipped with one. Power filter needs to be “purged” before plugging it in. Just take a cup and fill the filter basket with water until it is full. Now your filter & heater are ready to be plugged in. The heaters thermostat can be adjusted small amounts at a time
