How Do You Set Up Different Kinds Of Fish Tank Filters?
There are two different types of fish tank filters for large tanks, not including canister filters, which are often used independently, each with their own benefits and disadvantages. Some hobbyists like to employ usage of both types to maximize filtration in their large aquariums; this can be accomplished with just a few simple steps for each filter. Place the plastic undergravel grate at the bottom of the empty aquarium with the slits facing upward. Insert the plastic tubes into one of the circular holes in the undergravel sheet. Cover the rest up with the tube caps, as most undergravel grates have more than one hole. Insert the powerhead’s suction tube into the top of the tube going down into the undergravel grate. Cover the undergravel grate with about a 1/2 inch of your selected gravel. Rinse the hanging filter cartridge under the faucet with cold water until all off the excess charcoal is cleared.
