Wireless home networks are very common methods of data transfer. Connecting a computer to a wireless Internet gateway is the preferred method for most modern computer systems needing to access the World Wide Web. Follow these steps to set up a wireless Internet router at home. Introduce a high-speed modem to the computer system. This modem should either be a high-speed DSL or cable modem capable of high bandwidth data transfer. Disconnect power to the modem and remove any network cables connected to the unit. Connect an appropriate network cable from the LAN port on the rear of the wireless Internet router to the network port on the rear of the high-speed modem. Attach another appropriate network cable to the computer’s LAN connection port on the rear of the computer to any of the open network ports at the rear of the wireless Internet router.
